The Goal
The homeowners were tired of the weathered wood paneling on the front of the house and the overgrown, weedy lawn. They wanted a full exterior refresh, not just a coat of paint.
Our exterior painting work often starts with a goal like this one: fix what is worn out, then finish it so the whole front of the house looks consistent.
02
Before and After
The front of the house had weathered wood paneling near the entry and a black metal handrail. The lawn was patchy and overgrown with weeds.
The front of the house is now painted crisp white, with the repaired siding painted to match. The black handrail was touched up, and the front yard has fresh sod and clean mulch.
The brick chimney on the back of the house was painted a dark gray, and the planter wall and small cabinet beside it matched. It is now painted white to match the stucco.

What Exterior Painting and Repair Typically Involves
In general, a good exterior repaint starts with the repairs. Rotted wood is replaced before it is painted, because paint will not stop rot. Surfaces are cleaned, masked and primed where needed, and then the finish coats go on. If the yard is part of the project, grading and new sod or mulch usually come after the painting, so the new lawn is not damaged. The exact order and scope depend on your home, and we confirm it with you in writing.

We couldn't stand the weathered wood paneling on our front porch or the overgrown, weed choked lawn anymore. We hired Juda Builders for a full exterior refresh, and they completely transformed the house.
Having a crew at your house at 7:30 AM every morning isn't exactly fun, but the guys worked incredibly hard. They repaired the rotting siding, painted the entire front facade a crisp white, and touched up our black metal handrails. They also completely scraped out the messy front yard, leveled the dirt, and laid down beautiful fresh sod and clean mulch.
We had a small issue on day two when the wrong mulch color was dropped off, but the supervisor had it replaced by that afternoon with zero argument. No hidden fees or extra drama at the end. It looks like a completely different house when we pull into the driveway now.

Yes. Brick is cleaned and usually primed before painting. Keep in mind that painted brick needs touch-ups over time and is hard to return to bare brick. This project included a painted brick chimney and planter wall at the back of the house.
